Smiles by Mullen

Apparently, Larry Mullen has been smiling in secret for years. Our investigative reporters have unearthed these rare photographs documenting Mr. Mullen's increasing smileage over the past twenty years.

Mullen smiled occasionally in his teenage years, but it was rarely documented and this is indeed a rare picture.
Mr. Mullen smiled once during the early 80's, as seen here in this surveillance photo taken at the time of the video shoot for "The Unforgettable Fire."
As the decade wore on, smiles became slightly more common, as seen in this delightful variety...
...ranging from a happy grin at the beach...
...to an esoteric smirk...
...a pleasant wave to the cheering throng...
...a contented smirk after the appropriation of a comfy swivel chair...
...to a full-fledged, mischievous grin (achieved as Mr. Mullen happily scratched an itchy foot at Sun Studios)...
...and a victorious grin as Mullen scored a sizzling comeback.
In the early nineties, Larry Mullen proved that a nice smile really does make a person more attractive. He was seen smiling quietly to himself and looking damn good doing it.
Or perhaps he just realised how fine he was...
Mr. Mullen was seen laughing while clowning around with his bandmates - setting the standard for future expressions of joy.
During the late nineties, Mullen became much bolder about smiling in public, declaring his ability to smile from the rooftops, so to speak.
During U2's Popmart tour, he was seen smiling cheerfully at fans...
...so much so that they started to expect a smile along with his autograph.
It became rather common to see Mr. Mullen smiling just for the sheer enjoyment of it...
Larry Mullen learned it was fun to smile!
And we have a feeling his fans love to see him smile too.
So, whether it's a mischievous, fun-loving grin...
...a charming, slightly silly smile...
... or a sheepish grin after dropping a drumstick...

...you can be assured that someday, somewhere, somehow, you too will encounter Larry Mullen and his stunning smile.

*Our investigative team hopes to bring you more captured smiles as the new tour approaches.
